Lift the haystack flap to reveal a sweet calf hiding underneath. Soft clouds, colourful flowers, embroidered grass and stitched details complete the farm scene.

The kit is designed to make the creative process approachable while still leaving room to make the page your own. Felt pieces may be attached by hand sewing, machine sewing or hot glue unless the instructions specify otherwise. Buttons must always be sewn securely.

You will need a few household crafting tools to complete the kit:

• Scissors

• Straight pins or sewing clips

• Hot glue gun and glue sticks

• Iron and ironing surface

Once completed, children can lift and lower the haystack, hide and reveal the calf, compare the large cow with the smaller calf, make cow sounds and create their own farm stories. These playful activities offer opportunities to explore object permanence, cause and effect, textures, colours, size comparisons and positional words such as under, beside, up, down, hidden and found.

The finished page may also support hand-eye coordination, fine motor development, early communication, memory, observation, prediction, imagination and shared play.
